First
Baptist Church is a community of faith that seeks to make a tangible difference
in people's lives. We make a difference by reaching out to people in need
through a commitment to mission and ministry. We make a difference by
presenting a Gospel of hope in the best tradition of the free church,
encouraging people to hammer out their own convictions about what is true
and just. We make a difference by offering Christians a home free from
the hard-line doctrinal demands of some more conservative congregations
while maintaining a faith based in Scripture, inspired by Christ, and
empowered by God's Spirit. We make a difference by offering a strong,
supportive family for fellow seekers who are attempting the risky business
of living life with values that are not always understood by society.
We are a people who seek to live in God's Kingdom now while waiting for
God's Kingdom yet to come. For us that means building a church family
that is diverse and harmonious. We think that God's Kingdom is filled
with all kinds of people and because of that our church needs to be filled
with the young and the old, people of diverse backgrounds, people of many
races. We want to be a rich stew of beliefs, lifestyles, dreams, and interests.
If that confuses some people's preconceptions about Baptists, so much
the better. Like someone once said, "When you've seen one Baptist, all
you've seen is one Baptist."
We are a congregation
of the American Baptist Churches, USA, exploring the joys of Christian
spirit, service, and love.

Our church outreach to help others
FBC/Boulder provides clean water to Ban Ado and Ban Pajee Akha villages through ABC-IM Missionary Chuck Fox
Thanks to contribution of $5000 made by members of First Baptist of Boulder as a result of the church's September 7, 2008 clean-water fundraiser, the northern Thailand villages of Ban Ado (186 people, 23 households) and Ban Pajee (186 people, 130 households) are being helped greatly by the completion of clean-water projects coordinated by Chuck with the "Akha Foundation" based in Chiang Rai. Due to church donations in 2006 and 2007 from the Misisons & Outreach budget, the Akha villages of Mehter and Asukasem (located north of Chiang Rai) have also received new clean-water systems that were completed in April 2007 and June 2008, respectively.
