FBC/Boulder Habitat for Humanity Project
at Northfield Village-Unit B in Boulder

Lisa Gills (Flatirons Habitat for Humanity Development Director) spoke to congregation members at an after-church luncheon on July 18 about our co-sponsoring a low-income home in the Flatirons Habitat for Humanity "Northfield Village" Boulder construction site at 47th Street and Jay Road. This project also includes support from Atonement Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Church, St. John's Episcopal, St. Ambrose Episcopal, and First Presbyterian Church. Aside from donating a total of $8333.33 in FBC/Boulder Missions & Outreach funds and King Soopers coupon purchases to help pay for the home's construction materials, we'll be asking congregation members to help prepare lunches for our (and other church's) work crews, and to do various hands-on construction tasks.

FBC/Boulder Clean-Water Donations Help
Akha Sukasem Village near Chiang Rai

Missions donations made by FBC/Boulder congregation members to ABC-Interational Ministries missionary Chuck Fox continue to help provide clean water to Akha tribal villagers served by Chuck's ministry in northern Thailand. These photos were taken in June, 2010 in the Christian village of "Sukasem" near Chiang Rai, Thailand, where Chuck often preaches to villagers in their native Akha language. Our donations were used to pay for a new filter for the clean-water system that was built during July 2008 using our church's donations to Chuck. Thanks to all who made this possible through your FBC/Boulder missions donations!

Who we are as American Baptists

First Baptist Church is a community of faith that seeks to make a tangible difference in people's lives. We make a difference by reaching out to people in need through a commitment to mission and ministry. We make a difference by presenting a Gospel of hope in the best tradition of the free church, encouraging people to hammer out their own convictions about what is true and just. We make a difference by offering Christians a home free from the hard-line doctrinal demands of some more conservative congregations while maintaining a faith based in Scripture, inspired by Christ, and empowered by God's Spirit. We make a difference by offering a strong, supportive family for fellow seekers who are attempting the risky business of living life with values that are not always understood by society.

We are a people who seek to live in God's Kingdom now while waiting for God's Kingdom yet to come. For us that means building a church family that is diverse and harmonious. We think that God's Kingdom is filled with all kinds of people and because of that our church needs to be filled with the young and the old, people of diverse backgrounds, people of many races. We want to be a rich stew of beliefs, lifestyles, dreams, and interests. If that confuses some people's preconceptions about Baptists, so much the better. Like someone once said, "When you've seen one Baptist, all you've seen is one Baptist."

We are a congregation of the American Baptist Churches, USA, exploring the joys of Christian spirit, service, and love.

4th of July Church Picnic at James Park

On Sunday, July 4, congregation members and friends of First Baptist of Boulder enjoyed a church-wide picnic in the midst of God's beautiful nature at our James Park facility. Although it was a cool day with a few sprinkles of rain, it was a wonderful day of fellowship and fun. A few who attended took a short hike to see the nearby waterfalls. This was a great way to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday and the many blessings we have in this free country.
