November 2003 Visit by Theologian Marcus Pomeroy
From November 14-16, Marcus Pomeroy visited First Baptist of Boulder as a participant in the church's Theologean-In Residence program to lead interactive sessions on Friday evening and Saturday morning on the topic of increasing spirituality within a church. The session participants
prepared for Marcus' visit by reading Peter Steinke's book "Healthy Congregrations" that recommends ways in which church members can help each other towards a closer relationship with God through a shared church-based fellowship. During the sessions, the Old Testament book
of Nehemiah was referred to often by Reverend Pomeroy. He was formerly the pastor of an American Baptist church in New Jersey for 13 years, and is currently pastor of Central Baptist Church in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He is a certified Spiritual Director and supervisor ofgraduate students studying spiritual direction at Chestnut Hills College in Philadelphia. He has been involved in American Baptist missions outreach in Chicago and El Salvador. Reverend Pomeroy is shown below leading a Friday evening session and Sunday worship at FBC/Boulder.
