February 12 2010 - FBC/Boulder "Heart & Soul" Current Fundraiser/Social Event
(Article by Lora Freeman) We had a very special event on February 12, and many of you joined us for it. I'd like to share a little bit of the magic of the evening with you.
Many, many volunteers and staff came together to make Heart & Soul a beautiful event. The program itself was packed full of fun music, ranging from show tunes (featuring songs by Gershwin and Rogers & Hammerstein) to more contemporary love songs (Wonderful Tonight, Eric Clapton; The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Roberta Flack; Ice Cream, Sarah McLachlan). Ryan Connell coordinated the program, the performers and his own performances beautifully, and all of our soloists and band members (Lukas and Jessica Graf, David L'Hommdieu, Laura Williams, Gabrielle Varani, John Williams and myself) gave great performances to entertain our audience.
But there was something more that came together as part of the fabric of the evening. To make the evening happen, many people planned, shopped, cooked, decorated, served, ran errands, and cleaned (and cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned...) to weave together something greater than merely a meal and music. Our community pulled together, and in that process we deepened our relationships, our knowledge and experience of one another, our ability to work together, and our hope that, when we work together, good things happen.
My heartfelt thanks to all who supported the event - and Current - with your prayers, your efforts, your financial contributions, and your encouragement.
