May 22 2010 - FBC/Boulder Veteran Jo Robinson receives Congressional Medal of Honor
On May 22, 2010, long-time FBC/Boulder congregation member Jo Robinson was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for her service during World War II as a pilot in the Women's Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). Held at the Stratford Flatirons facility in Broomfield, Colorado, the ceremony was led by Colorado State Command Chief Master Sergeant Annodele Kenderes. The invocation was given by former FBC/Boulder Pastor Dwight Neuenschwander, followed by speeches honoring Jo's WASP military service by Colorado State Senator Mark Udall, Colorado Congressman Jared Polis, and Air Force Major General H. Michael Edwards. The highlight of the ceremony was the awarding of the Congressional Medal of Honor to Jo by Senator Udall, Congressman Polis, and Major General Edwards. A reception followed with a celebration cake, and entertainment provided by a vocal trio who sang songs of the World War II era in the style of the Andrews Sisters. We of FBC/Boulder are extremely proud to have Jo as a member of our church!
