Thanks to a $500 "directed-giving" donation in May 2008 to Chiang Rai ABC-IM missionary Chuck Fox from the FBC/Boulder Missions & Outreach budget, the northern Thailand Akha village of "Sukasem" received a clean water supply in mid-June 2008. The laying of polyethelene pipe for this clean-water supply was done by a work team composed of volunteers from Chiang Rai and local Sukasem Akha villagers.

Who We Are at First Baptist of Boulder

First Baptist Church is a community of faith that seeks to make a tangible difference in people's lives. We make a difference by reaching out to people in need through a commitment to mission and ministry. We make a difference by presenting a Gospel of hope in the best tradition of the free church, encouraging people to hammer out their own convictions about what is true and just. We make a difference by offering Christians a home free from the hard-line doctrinal demands of some more conservative congregations while maintaining a faith based in Scripture, inspired by Christ, and empowered by God's Spirit. We make a difference by offering a strong, supportive family for fellow seekers who are attempting the risky business of living life with values that are not always understood by society.

We are a people who seek to live in God's Kingdom now while waiting for God's Kingdom yet to come. For us that means building a church family that is diverse and harmonious. We think that God's Kingdom is filled with all kinds of people and because of that our church needs to be filled with the young and the old, people of diverse backgrounds, people of many races. We want to be a rich stew of beliefs, lifestyles, dreams, and interests. If that confuses some people's preconceptions about Baptists, so much the better. Like someone once said, "When you've seen one Baptist, all you've seen is one Baptist."

We are a congregation of the American Baptist Churches, USA, exploring the joys of Christian spirit, service, and love.
